We had great fun today on our trip to the Maritime Museum. We went as part of our topic on the sea and learned lots of things about boats, oil rigs and pirate ships!!!
- Cannon balls don’t explode. The loud bang comes from the gun powder in the cannon.
- We saw a big model of an oil rig and we learned that they use big drills to dig below the sea to find oil.
- We got to smell whale oil. It was not nice!! We were told how you get whale oil. We saw harpoons used to kill whales and we are very glad that it is not allowed anymore.
We had to hold our ears when the fog horn went off!! It was very loud.

We had a great view of the harbour and saw some really big boats.
